Man shot dead by police in Perth’s south-east
A man in his 30s armed with a knife has been shot dead by police after a violent altercation in Perth’s south-east.
Officers were called to the man’s home on Fremantle road in Gosnells after reports of a disturbance at 1am on Monday morning.
Police say the incident was a violent engagement with officers deploying OC spray and a taser.
An officer then discharged his firearm and between two and three shots were fired.
First aid was immediately given to the man but he was pronounced dead at 1:40am by St John Ambulance.
Two officers were taken to Armadale hospital.
One was stabbed in the arm while the other received treatment for a hand injury.
Major Crime is investigating the incident and an inquest will take place in due course.
