AFL great and proud Tasmanian Matthew Richardson has reacted to the historic news announced today, with the state of Tasmania to get their own AFL team and become the league’s 19th team.

Richardson was born and bred in Devonport and has been a big advocator for an AFL team in the state.

Richardson told Adam Papalia on WWOS  the Tasmanian team will be crucial for player development.

“It’s going to be so important for young kids with aspirations to go and play,” Richardson said.
