Former High Court judge Michael Kirby says Australia’s record on refugees is ‘not a glorious story’.

Mr Kirby is in Perth to receive an honorary doctorate from Curtin University and make a speech entitled ‘Seeking Refuge in Australia: Contested Policies and Community Responses.’

He joined Oliver Peterson in the 6PR studios to discuss the policy of detaining people seeking asylum by boat, his achievements while sitting as a high court judge and his thoughts on Australia’s place in the world.
