Minister’s maternity hospital relocation could put newborns at risk
The state branch of the Australian Medical Association says newborns needing immediate surgery could be put at risk – if the state government builds the new Women and Babies Hospital in Murdoch.
The report revealed that building at QEII could take up to 20 years at an extra cost of $228 million.
Press PLAY to hear all the issues behind the decision
Helping Little Hands co-founder Joanne Beedie spoke with Oly Peterson onĀ Perth Live.
“[The business case] doesn’t answer the questions satisfactorily as to why the QE2 site has been abandoned,” she said.
“We’re all coming back together to say this is the wrong decision and this will have a massive impact on our families and our future babies.”
