Monster cobia caught near Rotto set to break a world record that has stood for 40 years

An excited young angler is waiting with anticipation as the authorities ratify that his approximately 80kg cobia is a world record.
Drew Clowes from Jazz Charters and Koby Duncan, the lucky angler, spoke to Perth Today host Simon Beaumont about the catch.
“It was exciting, I can’t lie. I was like a little school kid at the time, it was not something you expect to see in Perth,” said Drew.
Simon then spoke to the current record holder, Peter Goulding, who has officially held the world record for close to 40 years with his over-60kg cobia caught in Shark Bay on similar tackle.
“I knew it had to be broken sooner or later,” he said.
