The change the date debate rages on as more big corporations are offering employees the option to work on Australia Day, if they wish to not recognise it as a public holiday.

Brad Pettitt, Greens Member for South Metropolitan told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings that times are changing and corporate Australia has made the right move.

“You often see corporations take the lead on these sort of things – they represent their employees quiet well – they’re not telling people they must do something, they’re giving them a choice,” Brad Pettit said.

“I think it’s through giving people the choice around what happens on January 26th, and how they may or may not want to celebrate will lead to that incremental change.”
