Mushies and MDMA: how new drug laws are changing mental health
One of the world’s most influential and pioneering psychedelic drug researchers has deemed Australia as at the forefront of mushroom therapy.
A Senior Research Fellow at Bristol, Cardiff and Imperial College London Universities, Doctor Ben Sessa told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings the listing of psilocybin and MDMA as legal therapeutic drugs would set the pace for the international treatment of mental health issues such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
“It’s an opportunity for Australia to put themselves on the global map in this part of medicine,” Dr Sessa said.
“We have to disengage ourselves from the recreational uses of these drugs, which are somewhat irrelevant really.”
