“Any boss who sacks anyone for not turning up today is a bum,” Bob Hawke famously rattled off after Australia II won the America’s Cup.

Forty years on, and Arts and Culture Minister David Templeman has said the same of anyone who doesn’t attend the star-studded “40 Years On” celebrations.

6PR reporter Jessica Shackleton told Jamie Burnett on 6PR Mornings recent Eurovision participants Voyager are one of many who will mark the occasion.

“The minister mentioned it’s a public holiday on Monday, so no-one really has an excuse,” Ms Shackleton said.
