Disturbing footage of dozens of dead koalas on Kangaroo Island has shocked the country, and raised questions over just how committed we are to protecting our native wildlife.

Broadcast on national television last night, the devastation is allegedly the result of bluegum logging on the island.

Kangaroo Island Wildlife Network campaigner Katie Welz told Gary Adshead onĀ 6PR Mornings the general public should prepare for hard truths when it comes to the damage done to Australian animal populations.

“This is happening pretty much every day; it’s inevitable that the animals are going to be injured or killed or displaced,” Ms Welz said.
