New drivers licences, with new licence and card numbers, will be available free of charge to Western Australians impacted by the Optus data breach.

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti told Mark Gibson on Perth Live the State Government has been working with Optus to find out exactly how many customers have had their drivers licence numbers released.

“They’ll be contacting Western Australians over the next few days who they believe have had their drivers licence details released, and they’re able to come into a Drivers Licence Centre and get a new one…for free,” she said.

Ms Saffioti also said the Government will “probably be allowing” other Optus customers who are concerned about privacy to replace their licence, but at this stage it is not their focus.
