New offshore wind farm off WA’s coast approved
The federal government has given the green light for an offshore wind farm to be built in the waters off WA’s South West coast.
The zone is smaller than originally proposed, at about 4,000 square kilometres, due to concerns about the impact on recreational fishing and shipping routes.
Conservation Council of WA Community Engagement Manager, Sarah English told Jo McManus on Perth LiveĀ renewable energy is critical for climate action, but government and industry must also protect important wildlife.
