New phone fines explained

From midnight tonight West Australian road users will face a $1,000 fine and four demerit points for using their mobile phone behind the wheel.
But there are some exemptions for a simple touch; Road Safety Council Chairman, Iain Cameron explained some of the rules surrounding the new infringements.
“If a phone is mounted, you can touch the phone to start and end a call,” he told 6PR Breakfast.
