Despite handwashing being a major component to reduce the spread of COVID-19 a number of Australians still aren’t washing their hands after going to the toilet or before touching food.

Research from Food Safety Information Council for Global Handwashing Day on October 15 found that 20% of men and 15% per cent of women say they’re not always washing their hands after going to the toilet.

“We’ve added a new tip this year and that’s returning into your house. Once you come back into your home, always wash hands especially in these times of the pandemic,” Lydia Buchtmann, Food Safety Information Council spokesperson told 6PR Breakfast.
