The World Health Organisation is changing its recommendations to how young children can start drinking cows’ milk.

Current guidelines suggest the milk only be given to babies older than one year old, but there are calls for this to be lowered to 6 months.

Dietician and Lactation Consultant Nicole Bando told Gary Adshead says the new evidence will help address Australian families’ individual needs.

I think like any new scientific evidence that’s emerging, there will be debate; I think what’s helpful to note is that the recommendations are rigorous and independent, which means they free from industry influence,” Ms Bando said.
