‘Nonsense’: Fears Labor’s Right to Disconnect plan will hinder business

Article image for ‘Nonsense’: Fears Labor’s Right to Disconnect plan will hinder business

The Federal Opposition is accusing Labor of “overreach” as it prepares to implement sweeping Industrial Relations reforms.

Included in the legislation is a “Right to Disconnect” measure, which would set in stone the right for employees to refuse contact with employers outside of work hours.

Gary Adshead talked to Greens Senator Barbara Pocock about the proposals, but is not convinced the plan is not a band-aid solution to an issue that should be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

“As soon as I disconnect as a journalist or a broadcaster, I may as well give up on my profession,” Mr Adshead said.
