Senator Jacqui Lambi has called for a national guard following suit from UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s announcement that national service will be mandatory if he is re-elected.

Executive Director of Australia Defence Association Neil James told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live “Most discussions on national service are confused…In our current strategic circumstances we probably don’t need it.”
