Australian Christian Lobby says Olympic opening ceremony ‘parodied’ The Last Supper
A scene during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics was a “drag performance involving children” according to the Australian Christian Lobby’s national director of politics Wendy Francis.
The scene evoked Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper painting with drag queens, a transgender model and a singer made up as the Greek god of wine.
The organising committee of Paris 2024 has since apologised to Catholics and other Christian groups around the world.
“We’ve got an apology that’s not really an apology… it’s like sorry that you took offence – that’s actually more like gaslighting in my mind,” Ms Francis said.
