Just 13 months on from suffering three strokes, an induced coma and going through heart surgery, Perth man Phil Davey is hoping to be an inspiration to others by running the 4km event at the HBF run for a reason.

Mr Davey told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast the strokes hit him suddenly, while he had been living a normally active life.

“When I was in bed I was struggling to breathe; I put it down as nerves coming into a new job,” Mr Davey said.

With the help of some very dedicated therapy workers, he’s managed to get back on his feet and is raring to embrace the Run for a Reason as a testament to his recuperation.
