The CEO of  TikTok, Shou Zi Chew, has faced a gauntlet of furious US legislators who failed to believe assurances the immensely popular social media app was not providing user data to the Chinese government.

US correspondent Charles Feldman told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast the US government is likely on the cusp of banning the app.

“They really want to know what is being done, if anything, to shield the mining of data from TikTok so that it doesn’t end up in the hands of the Chinese government,” he said.
