Origin of complaint that sparked CCC probe of hero detective remains a mystery
WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch was tight-lipped about the origin of a Corruption and Crime Commission inquiry into alleged misconduct against a senior hero detective.
Cameron Blaine, who worked on Cleo Smith’s disappearance among other high-profile cases across the state, has been stood down pending the CCC probe, which also focuses on a journalist at The West Australian.

“I’m not going to comment at this point on the reason for the investigation,” Blanch told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.
WA’s top cop was unsure if an external party made the original complaint that led to the CCC inquiry.
“I don’t have the finer details of the first complaint,” he said.
