Liam Bartlett has questioned the suspended sentence of the brother of WA’s most corrupt public official Paul Whyte.

Ronald Peter Whyte, 56, narrowly avoid prison for possessing stolen or unlawfully obtained property after admitting to creating a false invoice for state government works, which directed almost $3 million of public funds to the purchase of his sibling’s Mosman Park mansion.

During CCC hearings into how Paul Whyte – currently serving a 12-year jail term – managed to siphon $27m through his years working in the public service, his brother Ronald said he was “bullied” into creating the invoice by his sibling (pictured above), with his claim backed by a doctor’s report in the Perth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Bartlett questioned why Ronald Whyte kept $131,000 of the money for himself if he was “bullied” into the crime, and dismissed the fact he had since repaid it.

“I cannot believe time after time we talk about things happening in the courts,” he told listeners on 6PR Mornings.

“Where is the [WA] attorney-general [John Quigley] on this? Is he looking at it, or is he too busy texting his mate, Mark [McGowan], about the ‘BFL’ [Clive Palmer].”
