Ozempic replica ban will leave Australians struggling, doctors warn
New Federal laws may mean a loophole that allowed pharmacies to make and sell their own versions of hugely popular weight loss drugs Ozempic and Mounjaro will soon be closed.
Eucalyptus telehealth company Clinical Director Matt Vickers told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings it’s an undue decision that will have an adverse effect on many Australians.
“We undertook quite extensive safety and quality testing of the product with the pharmacies we are using; we were very careful about that,” Dr Vickers said.
“That was well beyond and above what regulations call for, and there already are stringent regulatory controls applicable to compounding pharmacies.”
