A new weight loss drug is jumping through loopholes seeking to replace the popular drug Ozempic despite the fact that the new drug isn’t TGA approved.

Obesity Expert at Monash University Professor Michael Cowley told Jamie Burnett on 6PR Perth Live the drug needs approval and more data before being put to market

“I was disappointed to see the company pushing ahead trying to market a compound that hasn’t been approved by the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Association) and hasn’t been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration)”, Mr Cowley said.
