Perth cafe hotspot suffering from a stinky issue

Business owners around Claisebrook Lake are imploring the City of Perth to step in and help with their very pooey problem.

Populations of cormorants have apparently “exploded” around Teat Tree Lagoon, Blackbird Cafe and other locations, bringing along with them their excrement which is “covering” the pavement.

Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings he understood the problem but didn’t think extreme measures were needed.

“Clearly we’re not going to chop the trees down,” Mr Zempilas said.

And for anyone who finds the odour at this time a touch offensive, there are lots of people who really enjoy that wildlife so it’s about finding a balance.
