Elton John’s globetrotting farewell tour will return to Australia next January but Perth is not on the 75-year-old’s schedule.

New Australian dates were announced today for Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Newcastle for the superstar’s long-running Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, currently taking place in North America.

His original run of 30-plus farewell shows in Australia from late 2019 until March of 2020 included two concerns at HBF Arena in Perth, wrapping up just before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast fans at John’s last shows in Australia expected it to be his final performances down under.

“I don’t think he can let go, I think this is all he’s ever known and the thought of suddenly not doing it … must be very troubling for him,” Ford said.
