Direct flights from Perth to Bali have resumed but the popular holiday island is not as tourists will remember.

A sold-out Jetstar flight JQ110 was scheduled to depart Perth at 7.25am on Friday, the first plane-load in two years.

From Friday, the airline will resume one return daily flight. AirAsia, which also used to service the route, plans to resume the three-hour service by mid-May after the island lifted its 3-day quarantine requirement for international arrivals.

Travellers wanting to fly to Bali must test negative to COVID-19 within 48 hours of catching their flight, and masks are still required in some situations, such as when inside large shopping malls.

Nine News Perth reporter Josh Dawe was on the first flight out of Perth to Bali in two years and told Steve Mills, filling in for Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast, what he would report on over the weekend there.
