The $100 million proposed surf park at Jandakot has been approved by the Environmental Protection Authority, but environmental activists believe the park will endanger local wildlife.

The EPA approved the removal of over five hectares to make way for the park, reasoning the surrounding vegetation is already degraded.

Save the Black Cockatoos campaign coordinator Paddy Cullen told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live this could lead to the extinction of black cockatoos.

“All over Perth we’re seeing these little islands of green melt into concrete,” said Mr Cullen.
