The Shop Distributive and Allied Employees Association (SDA) have presented a petition to State Parliament this morning to bring Perth’s laws on crime against retail and fast-food staff in line with other states.

6PR reporter Jessica Shackleton says about 80 employees from various companies showed up at Parliament.

“9500 signatures demanding action be taken to protect employees from customer abuse and assault,” she told Gary Adshead.

Secretary of SDA WA, Ben Harris, says violence against staff has been on the rise since COVID.

“It’s now at absolutely catastrophic levels and we want strong action taken by our legislators to make it a serious offence,” he told Millsy and Karl.
