Pickett up to the task
South Fremantle’s Marlion Pickett will become the first footballer to make his AFL debut in a Grand Final since 1952.
Pickett was handed his team jumper at the MCG only an hour before the 2019 AFL Grand Final and his team manager says the mature age player is more than ready for the task.
“If you’re going to debut someone it’s better than bringing in an 18 or 19-year-old, he’s been through a lot,” Pickett’s manager, Anthony van der Wielen, said about the 27-year-old.
The player manager also looks after Geelong’s Tim Kelly, who has been the talk of the trades.
“Won’t know for a little while. He honestly hasn’t made a decision,” he told 6PR.
