After over 30-years the last wedding will be held at this iconic venue

Mark Gibson

One of Perth’s most well-known wedding reception venues is set to close at the end of this year. Bridgeleigh Reception Centre has been hosting weddings for over thirty years but is set to be developed into a retirement village.

Part-owner Michael Deane told Mark Gibson they want to re-purpose the current building and retain the manicured grounds.

“We are trying to develop a concept where we can have community housing and a retirement village built around the building and still retain it for community use.”

Mr Deane built Bridgeleigh when he and his wife couldn’t a venue they liked for their own wedding. He’s been there for almost all of the 7000 weddings held at the centre.

“I’ve still got the diaries going back to the first one. I still remember the first wedding that I did.”

The last wedding will be held on November 30, 2020.

“We’ve had great and loyal support over the 32 years we’ve been here. We’re very appreciative of what everyone has thought of Bridgeleigh and [they’ve] welcomed us into their special days and into their hearts.”
