Aged care sector snapshot paints a grim picture

Wait times in the aged care sector are being highlighted – with elderly Australians waiting increasingly longer for a residential place and in home care.

Wait times for those needing a place in a nursing home have increased to an average of five months – a 50 percent increase on two years ago.

Council on the Ageing CEO Ian Yates told Gareth Parker on Mornings those needing assistance in their own homes are waiting even longer.
