Alzheimer’s breakthrough: blood test for detection
There’s been a massive breakthrough in the detection of Alzheimer’s with a blood test now able to identify the presence of the toxic proteins linked with the terrible disease.
“We were even unable to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease with any confidence unless someone was dead and we examined their brain, that has changed in the last eight years,” Professor Ralph Martins told 6PR Breakfast.
“This is a major leap forward, but many people told us it wasn’t doable because these (toxic) proteins were so low in the blood.”
