Cashless welfare card trial must cease: ACOSS
The Australian Council of Social Services has called on the government to immediately end the trial of the cashless welfare card after a damning report into it found ‘it is difficult to conclude whether there had been a reduction in social harm’ as a result of the card.’ ACOSS Senior Policy Advisor Charmaine Crowe says we can’t rely on the evaluations the government has been used to work out if the trials have been a success.
