Centrelink issues being ironed out
The Federal Attorney General admits while there are problems with the Centrelink model — it isn’t feasible to provide wage subsidies, similar to those seen overseas.
The UK government has decided to cover 80 per-cent of worker salaries for the next three months.
There have also been suggestions of creating an alternative to Centrelink — which deals directly with people affected by coronavirus.
But Christian Porter says creating a new system would have been too complicated, given the evolving circumstances.
