Consumer Protection targets uninsured car dealers
Consumer Protection has revealed it is now contacting car dealerships to urge them to get insurance for potential buyers who take their cars for a test-driver, after it emerged that there is no requirement for dealers to provide insurance.
The issue came to light when Mornings with Gareth Parker spoke to concerned mum, Kim Stewart, three weeks ago.
Kim’s son was left with a hefty insurance bill after crashing a car on a test-drive and discovering the dealer didn’t have insurance.
Kim joined Mornings with Gareth Parker again today to provide an update on the situation.
Consumer Protection’s Lanie Chopping then joined the program with her warning for dealers.
