Crackdown on scam calls
Phone scammers posing as credible businesses will be blocked from reaching victims as part of a crackdown from the communications watchdog.
Work on the first trial has already begun in the form of a ‘Do Not Originate’ register which prevents legitimate business numbers being used by fraudsters.
Efforts are also underway to crackdown on those who call once from an international number, with high charges for those who ring them back.
