Electricity disconnections in WA reach 6-year high
Power disconnections in WA have reached a 6-year-high, a report by the Economic Regulation Authority (ERA) has showed.
According to the report, a hike on the cost of living, growing unemployment rates and harder access to government grants are the reasons behind the rise.
19,743 West Australians had their power switched off during the last financial year for not paying a bill, 3808 more than the previous financial year.
WA Council of Social Service chief executive officer Louise Giolitto joined Karl O’Callaghan on Sunday to talk about the impact these disconnections have on consumers.
