Employers could face massive back pay bill over shift-work leave dispute
Shift workers’ sick leave is under the microscope in a move that has triggered legal intervention from the Federal Goverment as employers are concerned they’ll face a massive bill for back pay.
The case, which is before the Federal Court, relates to the meaning of the phrase “10 days of paid personal/carer’s leave” in section 96 of the Fair Work Act.
Chris spoke with the National Director of Workplace Relation policy and Ai Group Workplace Lawyers, the firm representing shift workers at the Mondelez International plant, about the need for clarification.
