Exercise for brain recovery

Repetitive exercises are helping people recover from brain injuries such as stokes according to a researcher at the University of Queensland

“Aerobic exercises like walking, or swimming or cycling can potentially enhance the brain’s ability to learn after a stroke,” Chris McKay, a phd student told 6PR Breakfast.

“When you’re doing these repetitive exercises to try and retrain the leg or the arm, you can remap the brain,” Mr McKay added.

Dave called in to tell Steve and Baz about his experience and recovery after he had a stoke earlier this year and says his quick thinking wife was pivotal in his recovery.
