From war hero to missing man: the story of Len Waters
Kamilaroi man Len Waters was Australia’s first Aboriginal fighter pilot, flying in a RAAF Kittyhawk fighter with 78 Squadron in the lethal skies over the Pacific in World War II.
Upon his return to Australia, however, the pilot received no recognition for his service and, instead, he became a missing man in the nation’s wartime flying history.
Australian journalist and author Peter Rees told Len Waters’ story in his book The Missing Man.
He joined Jane on Sunday afternoon to talk about the pilot’s life story.
