JobKeeper extended for six months, dropped to $1,200 a fortnight

The Federal Government has announced a range of measures to tighten the JobKeeper scheme.

The current $1,500 payment, will be lowered by $300 a fortnight from October.

The payment for part-time workers will also be reduced.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says the government will continue to provide the wage subsidy until March next year.

Meanwhile, the separate JobSeeker payment will also be reduced, and from next month the unemployed must make more of an effort to find work.

It will be reduced from its current level of $1,100 a fortnight, to about $800.

People will be able to earn $300 without the benefit being affected.
