Medical costs still hitting most patients
Half of the patients heading to doctors surgeries have some kind of out of pocket expense, but how much that is depends on where you live.
Patients in some Perth suburbs are paying more than $100 in medical fees for their visit even after they have received their rebates.
Michael Frost is with the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare and says although 90% of services bulk bill, 50% of patients are still paying some kind of cost.
