MyGov turning to a big brother database
The government will be able to track all your information through a “single digit ID” with myGovID, an updated system planning to be rolled out by 2025.
Dog registrations, health records, tax details… it’ll be a one-stop shop for everything you do and it will be held by the Government.
“Let’s not kid ourselves when you have a single number across all of your data interactions it creates a big brother database,” tech expert Trevor Long told 6PR Breakfast.
But, he’s certain the system would be safe and our information would be protected from hackers.
“The tax department has had most of our info for many, many years and they are completely secure,” he told Steve and Baz.
Digital minister Michael Keenan then joined Mornings with Gareth Parker to outline the specifics of his plan.
