National push for young people to work in aged care

There’s a new push to entice young people to work in the aged care sector, as our aging population sees a significant worker shortage opening up.

The Next Gen Young Leaders Forum has launched in Perth promoting the diverse career opportunities available in the sector.

Aged Care minister Ken Wyatt told Mornings with Gareth Parker, modelling suggests Australia will need almost one million aged care staff by 2050, in areas ranging from robotics to horticulture and catering.
