Nation’s largest childcare provider drops public holiday charges
The largest provider of early childhood education and care in Australia, will no longer charge families on public holidays, ending a long-standing sector practice for large providers.
Goodstart Early Learning says early learning should be affordable and equitable, and the decision to not charge on public holidays is a step change toward “making it fairer for our families.”
John Cherry is the Advocacy Manager for Goodstart Early Learning and told Gareth Parker that while parents ‘sort of’ understood the argument as to why they would previously have charged for public holidays because they still have costs, the organisation is glad they can spread the cost over the year and avoid the ‘irritating’ charges.
