Oly announces overnment rips up Huawei contract
The state government has pulled out of its controversial contract with the Australian arm of Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei to provide a mobile data network for the Public Transport Authority.
Transport minister Rita Saffioti says trade restrictions imposed by the United States on Huawei have caused insurmountable problems.
The contract had been attacked by the state opposition on security and transparency grounds.
