It’s the first week of the wet season, which coincides with The Smith Family’s annual Winter Appeal.

They’re hoping to help the one in seven children living below the poverty line by raising $350,000 to fund programs aimed at breaking the cycle.

On Perth Tonight Chris spoke with Ian Moore, General Manager of The Smith Family about the alarmingly high rate of poverty in Australia.
