After yesterday’s jetty collapse it has come to light the Rottnest Island Authority has been aware of its crumbling jetties for several years.

The 2014 report recommended financial investment to ensure the ongoing integrity of the jetties including the old Army Jetty at Thomson Bay.

Rottnest Island Authority board chairman John Langoulant told Gareth Parker “the identification of risk on the island is a constant issue we monitor”.
