Rock lobster agreement collapses
The State Government says the Western Rock Lobster council has walked away from it’s agreement reached with the State Government to increase the crayfish catch quota.
Fisheries Minister Dave Kelly says the industry group agreed on increasing the catch by 315 tonnes annually in February.
After the Government backed down from its controversial plan take control of 17-per-cent of the catch.
The proposed international Lobster festival will also no longer be going ahead.
WRLC CEO Matt Taylor says industry was not supportive of signing the agreement.
