Then, just two weeks later, close to a century of car manufacturing in Australia will official end on Friday Oct 20 when Holden shuts down its Elizabeth plant in Adelaide. The ability to make our own cars has not only been an economic driver and a national source of pride for decades, it has shaped the way we think about ourselves.
